一、第三十講題目：Promoting critical reading in science through a functional focus on language

二、英文摘要：

Text is central to both the conception of modern science and the social practices of scientists. Becoming literate in science today entails developing the ability to not only read and comprehend science texts but also critically evaluate and challenge the messages in these texts. Students need support in developing this ability. One way such support can be provided is through a linguistically-informed and responsive pedagogical heuristic called 5Es. This presentation describes how this heuristic can be used to engage students in text exploration that develops their critical language awareness, advanced literacy, and disciplinary literacy at the same time.

三、主講人：方志輝（Zhihui Fang）

美國(guó)普渡大學(xué)博士，現(xiàn)任美國(guó)公立常春藤佛羅里達(dá)大學(xué)教育學(xué)院正教授、博導(dǎo)、語(yǔ)言和讀寫教育專業(yè)負(fù)責(zé)人。主要研究方向:語(yǔ)言和讀寫教育、英語(yǔ)教師教育、功能語(yǔ)言學(xué)。共發(fā)表百余篇論文及著作。先后在本專業(yè)及相關(guān)專業(yè)的30多種國(guó)內(nèi)外著名刊物上擔(dān)任專欄主編、編委、及特約審稿員。曾獲普渡大學(xué)教育學(xué)院杰出博士論文獎(jiǎng)、美國(guó)英語(yǔ)教師協(xié)會(huì)科研新星獎(jiǎng)、佛羅里達(dá)大學(xué)年度優(yōu)秀教師獎(jiǎng)、佛羅里達(dá)大學(xué)科研基金會(huì)教授獎(jiǎng)、及佛羅里達(dá)大學(xué)杰出教授獎(jiǎng)。主持和參加過(guò)美國(guó)教育部、美國(guó)國(guó)家科學(xué)基金會(huì)、中國(guó)教育部人文社科基金、佛羅里達(dá)州教育廳、行業(yè)學(xué)會(huì)及私人基金會(huì)等機(jī)構(gòu)資助的多項(xiàng)科研及師資培訓(xùn)項(xiàng)目。多次應(yīng)邀到國(guó)內(nèi)外著名高校講學(xué)。
